Profile for Mark Simmons
After qualifying from the University of Oxford, Mark
Simmons undertook his surgical training in the UK, Europe
and North America. He received his general ENT training in
the Northwest of England, working in all three of the
Manchester Teaching Hospitals and at the Royal Manchester
Children’s Hospital.
He has received additional Fellowship level training in
Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery in Europe and North
America at internationally recognised centres of excellence.
He won the prestigious European Academy of Facial Plastic
Surgery Fellowship in 2004 and trained in the disciplines of
Functional / Cosmetic Septorhinoplasty and in Facial
Reconstruction for patients with skin cancer.
Mr Simmons is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons
(FRCS) and was successful in their examinations at first
attempt. He has been accredited by the Specialty Advisory
Committee in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and has
been awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialist
Training by the Speciality Training Authority of the Royal
Surgical Colleges. Following his Fellowship period he was
successful in the North American Board Examinations in
Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He appears on the
GMC specialist ENT register (GMC number: 4037071).
As a trainee, Mr Simmons sat on both local and national
training committees and continues his interest in medical
education.
Outside medicine, Mr Simmons is married and has two young
sons. He enjoys cycling and swimming, travel, cooking and
food/wine appreciation. He is a keen supporter of the local
rugby club in Sutton Coldfield where his sons play.
